Fire and Digital Art Experiences

Get up close to flaming cannonades, sculptures and music in the Abbott Square plaza. Get hands-on in the electrified museum with interactive digital art, projections, and LED sculptures.

Press a button and ignite a 12-foot tall angelic sculpture with the Flaming Lotus Girls. These stainless steel sculptures have both continuous and audience controlled poofers.

Dip your fingers into San Lorenzo River history with Camille Utterback’s interactive installation. This large-scale river-shaped projection in the MAH lobby windows shows an ever-changing collage of historic and contemporary images of the San Lorenzo River. Explore the river’s history by “dipping” your fingers into the river via a touchscreen surface. Vital Current – Seeking the San Lorenzo is debuting at GLOW and will be at the MAH for the next year.

See your silhouette in 2,000 LED lights. Reveal your shape in a fantastic infinity mirror of over 1,900 addressable LEDs in this piece by Victoria Hollis, Matt Newton and Mike Case. Create colorful trails which change with each new movement.

Stimulate your visual senses in this “break room for the future.” Play LED ping pong, dance to electronic music by William S. Braintree and Hoofwerk, and zone out to abstract visuals with Raphael Arar and Idea Fab Labs

Get up close to fire breathing dragonflies welded from steel by Jeff Caplan (Dr. Wasabi), giant neon sculptures from Mike Horton (Hot Mike Neon), and beautiful fiery flowers by Jensen Hastings.
