New Restaurants: A Teaser

Like everything at the MAH, Abbott Square is a place to enjoy with family, friends, and to make unexpected connections with other fabulous people across our community. And if you're friends are anything like mine, food is always at the center of our get-togethers.

Luckily, now Abbott Square Market is adding two new restaurants to offer us even more tasty options.

In the coming weeks, Daisuki Sushi and Roux Dat Cajun Creole will be opening inside the Octagon, the geometric-shaped building out in the main plaza of Abbott Square. I wonder if the original builders of the Octagon knew what a full life their funky brick building would live. Since it's construction in 1882 the Octagon has been reimagined from the Santa Cruz County Hall of Records to a history museum, the museum store, a coffee shop, and a puppetry institute. It's survived fires, earthquakes, and the normal wear and tear of being around for 137 years.

The Restaurants

Roux Dat Cajun Creole is a family-run, quick-service restaurant with one other storefront on 41st Ave in Capitola. Chef Chad & his family are thrilled to share their love for the essence of New Orleans by bringing the bold flavors of Cajun food to Capitola and now Abbott Square.

Daisuki Sushi has been a long-time supplier of sushi to the Santa Cruz County New Leaf grocery stores. This will be their first “brick and mortar” shop and they are excited to be serving up the freshest sashimi, hand rolls, poke bowls, and bento boxes.

Stay tuned for the official opening dates.
