Letter from an Exhibitions Intern

From marketing to school tours there are a variety of opportunities that open up every season for students and life long learners to go behind the scenes at the MAH.

MAH Interns not only work with staff to help create a stronger more connected Santa Cruz County; they can also build up their resumes, earn course credit, or learn new skills. One of our most popular internships at the MAH is the Exhibition Internship. In this role, interns assist in exhibition planning, prototyping, fabrication, daily maintenance, installation, and de-installation. At the end of her term, exhibition intern, Eva Duckler wanted to share a bit about her time working at the MAH. Hear first hand what it's like being one of our Fall Exhibition Interns in Eva's letter below...

As an Exhibitions Intern, I was given the tools and experiences to grow both professionally and personally.

The MAH team is incredibly supportive and opened up many opportunities for me to explore different aspects of the museum’s inner-workings. During the internship, I got to be an active team member during all stages of the exhibition design and fabrication process (pictured). From early brainstorms to the finishing touches, I was empowered to participate and contribute every step of the way. Working with such a close-knit team on so many hands-on projects was not only deeply educational but also just downright fun! The skills I gained through this internship have given me clarity on my career aspirations and encouraged me to pursue a future in exhibition design.
