Collaborate on 3rd Fridays with the MAH

Share your work with hundreds of creative, curious people. Be a part of 3rd Friday festivals at the MAH.

3rd Friday festivals

3rd Friday Festivals are community festivals co-created with people from across Santa Cruz County every month. They include hands-on workshops, demonstrations and performances. These fall under a new theme each month like the human body, youth activism, the cosmos, or radical crafts. Hundreds of visitors explore three floors of the museum. And they’re eager to engage with you.

Co-create amazing experiences with MAH staff. Share your work with hundreds of people.

Your wild ideas are welcome here. And you have a team to make your dreams become loud, colorful realities. The Community Programs crew at the MAH will meet with you, learn about your work, and co-create an activity with you to share at a 3rd Friday Festival.

You bring your curiosity and expertise. We bring years of experience creating festivals for thousands of people from across Santa Cruz County. Together, we’ll make something amazing.

E-mail Helen Aldana, Community Programs Coordinator at to start brainstorming ideas.

There are endless possibilities for how you can bring your skills to 3rd Friday Festivals. Read on to learn how.

Activate the museum atrium with dance, spoken word, fashion, music, or magic. Whether your talent is poetry, song or a bass guitar made out of a pink balloon (that really happened once), the MAH is your stage.

Lead a workshop

Share skills with a hands-on workshop for visitors of all-ages. Walk visitors through a radical craft. Create an unexpected way for new learners to engage with science. Teach budding activists about a revolutionary moment in time with printmaking or letter-writing.

Share a demonstration

Bring your incredible craft to new eyes. Share an intricate experience with curious visitors. No idea is too weird. You’ll be joining the ranks of collaborator blacksmiths, tarot card readers, firebreathers, watermelon-carvers and live taxidermists.
