Senior Story Slam

Artboard 1

Sunday, May 19, 2019,
4pm - 6pm

Gratis

Join local high school seniors & senior citizens for a story swap across the ages.

Six minutes. Four randomly selected speakers. One night only.

Listen to speakers share their experiences, history, and dreams related to the topic of "facing the unknown." From college admissions to making friends at 80, speakers will swap stories in quick witty talks up on stage. Then, it's up to you, the audience to select the best story of the night.

Story winners will get to share their story on the new MAH audio series, That Was Weird.

This event is related to the current exhibition We're Still Here: Stories of Seniors and Social Isolation.

How it Works

Sign-up to be a Speaker:

  • High school seniors and senior citizens sign-up here for the opportunity to share your story at the slam.
  • Speakers arrive at 4pm to check-in and join a free storytelling coaching session with a professional storyteller.

At the event:

  • Names will be selected out of a hat and the first speaker will go on at 4:30pm.
  • Speakers will share their story in under 6 minutes each.
  • Audience votes on their favorite story.
  • The audience then gets to turn to someone around them and share their story on the topic of "facing the unknown."

Schedule:

4:30pm | Four names are pulled out of a hat to pick speakers*

5:00pm | Event begins. Speakers begin sharing their six-minute stories with the room.
